「PART 2」BODY CHECK UP , PASS OR FAIL?

Time flies.

It's been 4 months since I went for the interview.

My available date to commence employment was 20th November. Giving such a long notice period (6 months) is scary because there was no news at all.

I was told that I'll be given a medical letter when the time comes, could be around September or October... It's October and I have not received any letters. Feeling like ants on a hot pan, I decided to get the HR email address from my "possible-future-colleague", sent an email to the HR and I got an immediate reply on the day itself. I'VE FINALLY RECEIVED MY MEDICAL LETTER!

Medical check up

This has to be done within 3 working days from the date we received the letter. I have no choice but to take an Emergency Leave from my company. Don't forget to bring your IC/passport and bring/print out the medical letter.

Head over to SIA panel clinic which stated in the letter. The whole body check-up takes about 2 hours. The clinic will forward the medical report to SIA directly. If there are any further tests needed, we have to pay for it.

First, there were a few forms to fill up. Next, proceed for the tests and scan. Body check up includes a vision test, blood test, urine test, X-ray and general check up.

From the X-ray scan, unfortunately, it showed that there was a sign of scoliosis, the doctor had to refer me to the hospital for a full X-ray scan to make sure the degree of scoliosis is within the range. I rushed to the hospital immediately for the scan hoping that I can make it back to the clinic to pass them the X-ray report.

The scan and the waiting time took about 45mins - 1 hour. The result was 14 degree!! What a relief...at least it's a mild scoliosis.
As long as the degree of scoliosis is below 15 degree, you're most likely safe. That's the SIA passing rate.

HR will inform us if we "pass" or "fail" the medical test within a month. All I have to do now is to wait and hope for a good news.
